Two-proton knockout on neutron-rich nuclei

Two-proton knockout reactions on neutron-rich nuclei [1] have been studied in inverse kinematics at intermediate energy. Strong evidence that the two-proton removal from a neutron-rich system proceeds as a direct reaction is presented, together with a preliminary theoretical discussion of the partial cross sections based on eikonal reaction theory and the many-body shell model. They show that t...

Diffraction dissociation contributions to two-nucleon knockout reactions and the suppression of shell-model strength

The contributions to the cross sections of intermediate energy two-nucleon knockout reactions from events in which one nucleon is removed by the stripping (inelastic breakup) mechanism and a second by the diffraction (elastic breakup) mechanism are discussed. The small additional contributions from two-nucleon diffraction events are also estimated. The approach used combines the eikonal reactio...

Neutron-proton asymmetry dependence of spectroscopic factors in ar isotopes.

Spectroscopic factors have been extracted for proton-rich 34Ar and neutron-rich 46Ar using the (p, d) neutron transfer reaction. The experimental results show little reduction of the ground state neutron spectroscopic factor of the proton-rich nucleus 34Ar compared to that of 46Ar. The results suggest that correlations, which generally reduce such spectroscopic factors, do not depend strongly o...

Dynamical core deformation effects on single-nucleon knockout reactions at fragmentation beam energies

The effects of core deformation and of its dynamical reorientation and rotational excitation on the inclusive single-neutron knockout reaction cross sections on light spherical target nuclei are examined. The projectile nuclei are modeled within the framework of a weak-coupling, quadrupole-deformed core-plus-neutron two-body model. We formulate the inclusion of this non-spectator-core degree of...

Proton and neutron knockout from 36 Ca

The cross sections for single-nucleon knockout from 36Ca on a 9Be target at 70 MeV/nucleon were measured to be σexp(−p) = 51.1± 2.6 mb for proton knockout and σexp(−n) = 5.03± 0.46 mb for neutron knockout. The spectroscopic factors and orbital angular momenta of the neutrons and protons removed from 36Ca, leading to bound A = 35 residues, were deduced by comparison of the experimental cross sec...
